Challenge Gail Porter in the Eco-Driving Simulator and win a Satnav
London residents can take the eco-driving challenge against TV presenter Gail Porter at Camden Council’s Green Motor Expo taking place this Thursday 24 September at Triton Square Plaza.
The eco-driving simulator was developed by Global Action Plan and Toyota as a realistic driver education tool. The five minute training sessions will be free and open to all. The session includes tips on how to drive safer and more efficiently - saving money on fuel bills and reducing emissions without having to buy a new car. The top two drivers at the end of the day will be awarded either a state of the art widescreen Navman satnav or a year's free membership to Streetcar.
Camden Council’s Green Motor Expo (GME) is a special event for London residents and businesses to discover a whole host of eco-friendly vehicles and fuels from global manufacturers and innovative British firms. Visitors can also pre-book real test drives for a selection of the award-winning vehicles via the Green Motor Expo website. The event is backed by Transport for London (TfL).
The event will enable visitors to receive up to date information about the performance, environmental and cost benefits associated with green vehicles. The technologies and fuels on offer include hybrid, electric, biofuel and hydrogen-based fuel cells. All are available from local suppliers now or in the very near future.
Businesses will also be provided with case studies from successful operators of green fleets and receive free advice regarding green fleet management and driving standards from TfL's Freight Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) and the Metropolitan Police Commercial Vehicle Education Unit.
Camden Council has taken a national lead in promoting and trialling environmentally friendly transport and energy technologies. Recent achievements include introducing the first plug-in hybrid car club, installing a number of on-street electric charging points, trialling a bio-methane waste collection vehicle, installing the UK's first local authority operated bio-methane and hydrogen fuelling facilities, as well as running a range of clean vehicles in their own fleet including a zero emission portable hydrogen fuel cell generator.

In August 2009, Camden Council commissioned a focus group survey to ascertain the attitudes of London-based residents and businesses towards alternatively fuelled vehicles (including battery and hybrid electric cars). This event is in part a response to the findings.
