What if our electric cars could be used in the city and also use conventional fuel to take us
long distances at high speed.
Hybrid vehicles combine an internal combustion engine with an electric motor and battery. The amount of electric power depends on the size and quality of the battery. The electric motor may only provide additional power during acceleration and high load conditions, or it may be possible to use solely electric (zero emissions) power for short distances. The battery can be recharged by the internal combustion engine and from energy absorbed during braking. With 'plug-in hybrids' the battery can aslo be charged by plugging it into the mains.
Company vehicle tax is linked to both vehicle cost and emission rating. Based on an average car emission of 165 g/km you will be paying 21% of vehicle value. Vehicles powered solely by electric are subject to only a 9% tax band.
